Improved client care has led to an increased competitive advantage, which means greater profitability and a reduction in our PI Insurance premium.

I cannot recommend The Assessment Network highly enough, their professionalism, specialist knowledge and general help has been invaluable.

Investors in People has been invaluable to us as a lever for school improvement for the past ten years. The perspective offered by professionals external to the school assessing our performance and practice against detailed, predetermined standards over a prolonged period of time, together with the recent introduction of Bronze, Silver and Gold standards has provided a clear focus for our self-evaluation and improvement planning processes.

Perhaps even more importantly, in interviewing and engaging our staff, whatever an organisation’s stage of development, the assessment process provides a welcome opportunity for staff to engage in personal reflection and professional dialogue.

Finally, the feedback at the end of the process contains highly relevant, well considered recommendations for action that strengthen the school's capacity for learning about itself and its environment. This is increasingly important for any organisation in uncertain times.

I was delighted when Chelmsford Borough Council became the first local authority in the East of England region to achieve the Investors in People Gold standard. At the time we were one of only 10 in the Country to have gained this recognition. We have since been awarded the prestigious IiP Champion status.

IiP Gold standard for Chelmsford Borough Council means that our practices in relation to how we develop our workforce to ensure continuous improvement have been measured against a set of national standards and found to be among the very best in the Country.

We are all aware of the challenges facing the corporate environment with Local Authorities experiencing a period of intense financial pressures. CBC continues to look for innovative ways to achieve more with less. Our belief in the IiP standard has shown that despite the ongoing challenges, our employees provide award winning services and record high levels of customer satisfaction. This is because of the importance placed on how we motivate, engage, develop, performance manage and reward our staff to ensure that they are highly skilled and effective in their jobs. This has resulted in an enhanced corporate image and we are confident about meeting the future challenges ahead.

As a Council, we are keen to maintain the IiP Gold standard as it allows us to strengthen our strategic planning and provides us with the vision for continuous measurable improvement. I am pleased that our Champion status will enable us to share our model of success with others.

We have been accredited with Investors in People for over 10 years and more recently, we have been awarded the “Lexcel” quality mark for the legal profession. The Assessment Network assisted us through IIP and the extra requirements of Lexcel.

We now have an annual audit arranged through The Assessment Network, which we have found to be invaluable over the past 3 years as we have restructured our business to deal with the general economic climate. Having IIP and Lexcel enabled our management team to recognise very early the potential risks to our business of the general slowdown. This allowed us to plan sensibly for the future rather than simply reacting to a crisis.

Our Assessor and the team at The Assessment Network have always been an excellent sounding board for our business development

Since a ‘Poor’ CPA in 2004, Castle Point Borough Council has improved dramatically. Improving and sustaining achievements of outcomes is now routine. Recognising that staff are the Council’s most important asset and investment in this asset was a key factor in the Council’s improvement. We have restructured the organisation twice and staff feedback overall has been the most positive since Dave Abdul began assessing the organisation in 1998.

Since 2007 we have improved performance, introduced new managers, overhauled performance management, re-engineered communication, improved cross-department working, invested greatly in learning and development, have more focussed planning, improved people management processes and developed ERICITA staff values.

Our council now has an enviable reputation to maintain and our Investors in People Gold Award is testament to this.

I have been very impressed by the support that has been given by both the Assessment Network and Christopher Gough. We benefited from the Assessment Network's free assessment of our office manual, their helpful sample policies and the very clear information regarding the steps that we were to follow in order to gain accreditation. The contact that we received was excellent throughout.

During, and previous to, his assessment, Christopher Gough took a very consultative approach that kept our stress levels down and directions focused. His reports, both verbal and written, were particularly beneficial, giving guidance on valuable improvements that we could make to our processes and procedures.

I would certainly recommend the Assessment Network to any firm considering applying for Lexcel accreditation.
